Harrow Foodbank: Delivering More Than Just Food

ree

Our friends over at Harrow Foodbank are doing incredible work to offer relief to many of Harrow on the Hill’s residents in a time that is truly, for so many, a crisis. Those working at the foodbank deliver emergency food to those most menaced by the pandemic—either directly or circumstantially. Specifically, Harrow Foodbank is working to ensure, via food delivery, the safety and health of those in our community with disabilities, those at-risk community members who must shield themselves against the virus for any reason, and individuals in our community who are over 70 years old.

Perhaps the most inspirational piece of Harrow Foodbank’s current efforts is the equitable and inclusive nature of their beneficiaries: to receive food from the nonprofit, one need not subscribe to any certain faith or be affiliated with any certain organization; instead, the only requirement is a referral from one of a variety of places, including one’s school, a hospital, Harrow Council, British Red Cross, or a place of worship, to name but a few of the potential sources.

We here at HHH applaud, celebrate, and cheer on such efforts, Harrow Foodbank! You set an admirable standard, one that is hope-giving and heartening. It will be thanks to efforts of organizations like yours that we will ultimately prevail. We shall overcome and move beyond COVID-19 because groups like yours will have made sure we did not—that we could not, in fact—succumb to the devastating force that is and has been the pandemic.

From everyone here at HHH: THANK YOU!
